UTM Advances the Global Recognition of Madurese Jamu Through Short Course Program

Trunojoyo University of Madura (UTM) has once again brought attention to Madura`s traditional herbal medicine on the global stage through an International Short Course titled ‘‘Madura Herbal Drink: From Garden to the Glass.‘‘ In this event, UTM welcomed students from Palacky University in the Czech Republic, along with participants from five study programs at the Faculty of Agriculture and the Natural Resources Management Postgraduate Program (PSDA).
Setiyani, one of the speakers, highlighted that herbal medicine is a natural drink with health benefits that have been trusted for generations.
Eko Setiawan, Deputy Director I of UTM Postgraduate, added that herbal medicine has been recognized as one of the six Intangible Cultural Heritage (WBTB) entries submitted by Indonesia to UNESCO.
Bambang Haryadi, Director of UTM’s Postgraduate Program, emphasized that the university will continue to promote Madura’s biological resources on the international level.
‘‘We are dedicated to globalizing Madura herbal medicine, not only as a cultural heritage but also as a significant local economic force,‘‘ he concluded.
